Chicken or Salmon to Fight Bad Breath

by — Categories: PetsComments Off

Bad breath in cats is unappealing to say the least. But did you know that there are cat treats available today that promote oral hygiene in cats? Enriched with Vitamin C, the treats battle bad odors while added calcium promotes strong teeth. And you know how important strong teeth are.

In fact, if you’ve never given your feline an oral check-up, it’s important to do so. Bad breath in cats is sometimes associated with tartar buildup on the teeth. You can visually inspect your cat’s teeth for discoloration and tartar buildup by gently lifting the skin at the corner of the cat’s mouth to expose the cat’s teeth. You can do this without opening the cat’s jaws; just lift the mouth skin. Although it’s important to also inspect the inside of the mouth and inner tooth surfaces, this part of the exam is more easily accomplished at the veterinarian’s office and especially should be done if you see any signs of tartar or decay on the outside surfaces of the teeth. Your vet will recommend how often you should bring your cat in, and probably recommend some cat dental treats. But always keep an eye out for yellow or dark brownish tartar build up, which can lead to infections, tooth loss and decreased health in your feline. And don’t forget to reward kitty for her patience with some delectable cat treats!

Chicken cat treats and salmon cat treats are always a huge hit with felines, but if you have a finicky feline, there are at least a half dozen other flavors available today. Shake the bag of treats and watch your feline come running to find you!

There are also toys on the market today that you can fill with treats so that your cat can enjoy the hunt. And, you’ll enjoy watching your feline frolic with delight as he tries to figure out how to get those treats out of the toy and into his tummy. The same applies for kitten care. So, next time you’re at the store, remember that bad breath in cats can be deterred with some yummy treats for kitty – you’ll just have to decide: chicken cat treats or salmon cat treats (we think kitty would enjoy both).
